From Chaos To Confidence: Liz And Andy's Sleep Success

Before working together, Liz and Andy were caught in a cycle that so many new parents know all too well—frequent night wakings, emotional exhaustion, and the strain of trying to function without rest.

But what made their journey unique was how sleep coaching didn’t just restore sleep—it helped rebuild their confidence as a parenting team.

“I didn’t even realize I had depression until we started sleeping again,” Liz shared during our chat. “We weren’t just tired. We felt stuck and disconnected.”

At the heart of their transformation was a shift from isolation to intentional teamwork

As a nursing and co-sleeping mom, Liz had carried most of the nighttime responsibilities, which left Andy feeling helpless and excluded. Through our gentle, science-backed approach, they learned to collaborate in a way that respected both of their roles—and helped their baby thrive.

What Shifted for Their Family?

A confident co-parenting dynamic: Andy took the lead on sleep coaching, and it turned out to be the key. “It brought me closer to my son,” he said. “I now know how to meet his needs, and bedtime is actually enjoyable.”

Consistent, restorative sleep: Their son now sleeps 11.5 hours through the night with solid naps during the day—giving everyone the rest they desperately needed.

Freedom to trust dad at home with kiddo when mom traveling: With a reliable sleep routine in place, Liz was able to fly to New York City to officiate a friend’s wedding—guilt-free. “It was surreal to leave and not worry,” she said. “I trusted Andy, and I trusted the process.”

Time for passions and purpose: Andy is writing again. Liz is enjoying her friendships and planning a family vacation that feels exciting instead of overwhelming. “It’s like we got our brains back,” they told me.

This wasn’t about rigid rules or letting their baby “cry it out.” It was about support, education, and working together at a pace that felt right for everyone in the family.

The results? A peaceful household, stronger relationships, and a child who sleeps joyfully and independently.

“It felt like magic when I put him in the crib and he just smiled,” Andy said. “But it was really science—and love.”

If you're wondering whether sleep coaching can fit into your parenting style, let this be your reminder: it can be gentle, respectful, and deeply empowering. And most of all, it can bring peace back into your home.

Spring Daylight Savings 2026: How to Gently Help Your Child Adjust When We “Spring Forward”

Daylight Saving Time reminder graphic for parents. Smiling baby holding alarm clock with text announcing clocks move forward one hour on Sunday March 8th. Blissful Baby Sleep Coaching.

In 2026, Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 8.
At 2:00 a.m., the clocks move forward one hour.

Which means your child’s 7:00 a.m. wake-up suddenly feels like 6:00 a.m. to their body.

And if you’ve ever lived through spring daylight savings with a baby or toddler, you know: this isn’t “just one hour.”

It can feel like jet lag… without the vacation.

The good news? With a gentle, steady approach, most children adjust within a few days. You don’t need drastic schedule changes, cry-it-out, or rigid sleep boot camps.

Let’s walk through exactly how to handle spring forward 2026, calmly and confidently.

Why Spring Forward Feels Harder Than Fall Back

When we “fall back” in November, children get what feels like extra sleep.

When we “spring forward,” we’re asking their bodies to fall asleep earlier than their internal clock is ready for.

That’s the tricky part.

Your child’s circadian rhythm doesn’t change just because the clock does. For a few days, bedtime may feel too early, mornings may feel too early, and naps can get wobbly.

This is normal.

It’s not a regression. It’s a temporary rhythm shift.

Option 1: Do Nothing (Yes, Really)

If your child is generally a flexible sleeper, you can simply switch to the new clock time on March 8 and allow their body to adjust naturally.

Most children adapt within 3–7 days.

What this looks like:

  • Bedtime stays the same by the clock.

  • Wake-up stays the same by the clock.

  • You protect sleep pressure and keep routines consistent.

  • You get outside in morning light to help reset their internal clock.

This works especially well for:

  • Babies under 6 months

  • Toddlers with solid sleep foundations

  • Families who prefer minimal schedule tinkering

Consistency is more powerful than perfection here.

Option 2: Gradually Shift Before March 8

If your child is sensitive to overtiredness or early waking, you can shift the schedule slowly in the 4–5 days leading up to Sunday, March 8.

Starting Wednesday, March 4:

  • Move bedtime 10–15 minutes earlier each night.

  • Shift naps earlier by the same amount.

  • Wake your child 10–15 minutes earlier each morning.

By Sunday, you’ll already be close to the new time.

This approach feels gentler for:

  • Toddlers prone to overtired meltdowns

  • Babies in the middle of a sleep regression

  • Children who wake very early

Small shifts protect regulation. Big swings often backfire.

What About Early Morning Wake-Ups?

Spring daylight savings can temporarily cause:

  • 5:00–6:00 a.m. wake-ups

  • Shorter naps

  • Extra bedtime resistance

Before assuming something is “wrong,” give it 3–5 days.

To support smoother mornings:

  • Keep the room dark (blackout curtains really help this time of year).

  • Don’t start the day before your desired wake time.

  • Expose your child to natural sunlight within 30–60 minutes of waking.

  • Keep naps age-appropriate to avoid overtired spirals.

Light is the strongest cue for resetting the body clock.

Should You Use Cry-It-Out for the Transition?

Short answer: no.

There’s no need to overhaul your approach or suddenly introduce extinction methods just because of daylight savings.

Spring forward is temporary.

If your family practices gentle sleep coaching, responsive settling, or a no cry-it-out approach, you can absolutely stay consistent through this shift.

Sleep transitions go more smoothly when children feel secure.

A Gentle Spring Forward Plan by Age

Babies (0–6 months)

Follow wake windows. Protect naps. Use light exposure in the morning. Avoid rigid clock watching.

Babies (6–12 months)

Shift gradually if sensitive. Keep bedtime routine predictable. Offer a slightly earlier bedtime for a few days if needed.

Toddlers & Kiddos (1–5 years)

Prep them verbally:
“The clock is changing. We’ll still sleep when it’s dark.”

Keep boundaries steady. Expect 3–5 days of adjustment.

How Long Does It Take to Adjust?

For most children:

  • Mild disruption: 2–3 days

  • More sensitive sleepers: 5–7 days

  • Rarely longer than 10 days

If sleep struggles persist beyond two weeks, there may be a separate schedule or regression issue—not just daylight savings.

A Calm Reframe for Parents

If March 8 feels stressful, here’s your permission slip:

You don’t have to engineer this perfectly.

You don’t have to fix everything in one night.

You don’t have to panic if bedtime runs late for a few evenings.

Children’s bodies are designed to adapt.

Your job isn’t to control every variable.
It’s to stay steady.

And steady is powerful.

Frequently Asked Questions About Spring Daylight Savings

  • Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 2:00 a.m. Clocks move forward one hour.

  • Possibly for a few days. Their body clock may still be on “old time.” Most adjust within a week

  • If you do nothing, keep bedtime the same by the clock. If shifting gradually before March 8, move bedtime 10–15 minutes earlier for several days.

  • For sleep, yes. Spring forward asks children to fall asleep earlier than their internal rhythm prefers.

Are you struggling with sleep after the time change?

The Pregnancy Nutrition Book Every Mom Needs: 9 Months That Count Forever by Jessie Inchauspé

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I’m obsessed with helping parents create healthy rhythms for sleep, for nourishment, for sanity.

And when I find another expert who’s doing the same thing, just in a different lane, I can’t help but shout it from the rooftops.

So, let’s talk about Jessie Inchauspé, you might know her as The Glucose Goddess,  and her new book, 9 Months That Count Forever.

This one isn’t just another “eat this, not that” pregnancy book. It’s a game-changer for moms who want to set their baby up for lifelong wellness, starting from day one.

Why This Book Matters (And Why I’m a Fan)

As a Certified Gentle Sleep Coach and mom who’s walked with over a thousand families, I know how connected everything truly is-  sleep, feeding, mood, energy, hormones, healing.

What we eat affects how we feel.
How we feel affects how we sleep.
And how we sleep affects everything.

Jessie’s new book breaks down how balancing your blood sugar during pregnancy can literally change your baby’s health trajectory for life.

That’s not an exaggeration,  it’s pure, science-backed truth.

She takes what could be a complicated topic (blood glucose levels, metabolic response, fetal development) and translates it into clear, doable steps, things any busy mama can apply right away.

Think of it as nutrition meets empowerment, minus the guilt, fear, or overwhelm.

My Favorite Takeaways

Here’s what I love most about Jessie’s approach:

She explains the “why.” You’re not just told what to eat; you understand how every bite shapes your energy, mood, and baby’s long-term health.

She keeps it practical. The hacks are real-life doable, eat your veggies first, pair your carbs with protein, take short walks after meals,  things that actually fit into mom life.

She empowers, not lectures. You’ll feel supported, not shamed. Inspired, not judged.

This is exactly the kind of education that helps parents feel confident, calm, and capable,  the same foundation I build sleep coaching on.

What This Has to Do with Sleep

You might be wondering: “Joanna, what does blood sugar have to do with sleep?”

Everything.

When your blood sugar dips and spikes, so does your cortisol and adrenaline, which can disrupt both your sleep and your baby’s rhythms once they arrive.

Balanced blood sugar = steadier energy, calmer mood, better rest.
And better rest = smoother adjustment, more patience, and a thriving household.

Jessie’s work connects beautifully with my philosophy: when we care for the body, we nurture the nervous system and that is where true rest begins.

Why I’m Sharing This Now

Because I know so many of my clients, especially first-time moms,  are hungry (literally and figuratively!) for guidance that’s grounded in science and compassion.

Jessie delivers both.

Her new book, 9 Months That Count Forever, just launched and it’s already making waves in the prenatal wellness world.

If you’re pregnant, planning to be, or supporting a mama who is, this is your next must-read.

It’s not about perfection, it’s about knowledge that empowers you to make small, meaningful changes that ripple forward for years to come.

Then forward it to a mama friend who deserves to start motherhood feeling strong, supported, and informed.

And while you’re there, come back and tell me what your biggest “aha moment” from the book was. I’d love to hear how this wisdom lands for you.

Because the truth is, what we do during those nine months echoes through a lifetime.
Let’s make them count.

Blackout Curtains: Your Nap-Time Secret Weapon

Why Sleep-Out Curtains Might Be the Missing Piece in Your Child’s Sleep Puzzle

Let’s have a real talk about something small that can make a giant difference in your child’s sleep: light.

If your little one is waking at the crack of dawn like they’ve got a standing meeting with the birds… or if naps are suddenly non-existent despite your best efforts… it’s time to shine a light on — or rather, block the light from — what’s going on.

Enter: Sleep-Out Curtains (aka blackout curtains, but better)

Now, I’m not talking about the sheer ones you picked up at Target that say blackout but still let in morning rays like a nightclub strobe. I mean REAL sleep-out curtains — the kind that make the room feel like a cozy, womb-like cave no matter what time of day it is.

Why does this matter?
Because light is a major player in your child’s circadian rhythm.

Sleep Science Moment: Why Darkness Matters

Let’s geek out for just a second (you know I’m all about the why behind the what).

When your child’s environment is too bright — especially early in the morning or during nap time — it signals their brain to stop producing melatonin, the sleep hormone that helps them wind down, stay asleep, and feel rested.

Translation?
Light = “Let’s wake up!”
Darkness = “Mmm, let’s stay cozy and snooze some more.”

So if you're trying to get longer stretches at night… more reliable naps… or even just a child who wakes up after 6am — sleep-out curtains are your new best friend.

Real Life Moment: The “Summer Solstice Meltdown”

Let me tell you about a sweet family I worked with — let’s call them the Parkers.

Everything was going pretty well… until June hit. Suddenly, bedtime became a full-on battle, naps were skipped, and their 4-year-old started popping up at 4:45am ready to party.

The culprit?
Their room was flooded with that glorious summer light — at bedtime, during naps, and first thing in the morning.

Once we installed real sleep-out curtains, it was like flipping a switch. Bedtime resistance dropped. Naps came back. And that 4:45am party animal? Now sleeping ‘til 6:30.

Joanna’s Go-To Curtain Tips

If you’re ready to join the dark side (literally), here’s what I recommend:

Look for 100% blackout – Not “room darkening” or “light filtering.” You want total darkness.

Seal the edges – Light sneaking in from the sides or top? Use Velcro strips or blackout curtain liners that go BEHIND your regular curtains.

Get creative – In a pinch? Tape black trash bags to the windows. I’m not above a temporary hack when it buys the whole family more sleep.

Double-duty – Consider using travel blackout options like Sleepout™ panels when visiting family or traveling (they suction to windows and WORK).

Gentle Sleep Coaching Bonus Tip

A darker room doesn’t just help your child sleep longer — it also helps them fall asleep easier.

So if bedtime battles feel endless, or if your toddler is suddenly scared of “monsters” or “shadows,” don’t assume they need more light — they may actually need less stimulation.

Pro tip: Add a soft red or amber nightlight if needed — those tones don’t disrupt melatonin like blue/white light does.

Bottom Line

Sleep-out curtains aren’t just some Pinterest parenting trend.
They’re a strategic, science-backed tool that helps align your child’s internal sleep rhythms with their environment — especially when naps, early mornings, or bedtime meltdowns are stealing your sanity.

They’re one of those things that make you go,
“Why didn’t I do this sooner?”

Ready to troubleshoot your child’s sleep challenges with real strategies that WORK?

That’s exactly what I do, every day, with families just like yours.
Let’s build a customized, heart-centered, attachment-respecting plan that makes sleep feel easy again.

At Blissful Baby Sleep Coaching, I believe that sleep is a learned skill, and every child is capable of learning it—with the right guidance and support.

Whether you’re a working parent juggling deadlines or simply a family in need of rest, know this: there is always help and hope available.

Critical Insights: AI And Sleep Coaching For Parents

Let’s be honest, AI is everywhere. From meal planning to mindset coaching, there’s an app or chatbot for everything.

And now, some of these tools are claiming to coach your baby’s sleep.

It sounds convenient, right? Quick answers, instant plans, no appointments.

But when it comes to your child’s sleep, it’s not that simple.

Why AI Tools Can Be Misleading

AI is amazing at gathering information, but it doesn’t understand your child.

Some of the new “AI sleep coaches” are just chatbots trained on surface-level data. They don’t consider your child’s age, temperament, sleep environment, or family schedule and family/parental dynamics.

They can’t tell when your little one is overtired, teething, or going through a regression—and that ALL matters.

Sleep coaching isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about behavior, biology, and connection. Without that human understanding, an AI tool can easily miss the mark.

The Hidden Risk of AI Sleep Coaches

Lately, I’ve seen a growing trend—people who are not trained sleep coaches creating AI “bots” or GPTs and selling them as quick-fix solutions.

These untrained creators often mix and match methods without understanding the behavioral science and attachment theory behind sleep. The result can be intermittent reinforcement—a pattern that makes sleep struggles harder to fix and the child will actually cry louder, longer and harder.

Here’s what that looks like: one night, the AI tells you to respond one way; the next night, a different way. Your child receives mixed messages. Over time, this inconsistency can cause more night wakings, more resistance, more tears, more power struggle, more confusion and more stress for parents without seeing any improvement that has the potential to last.

A certified and trained Sleep coach with real world experience knows how to recognize these patterns, pivot the plan, and support progress in a consistent, compassionate way.

A bot simply can’t do that.

Why Credentials Matter

When you hire a sleep coach, you’re trusting someone to guide your family through meaningful change. That’s not just about schedules, it’s about behavior, attachment, and emotional wellbeing.

I’m trained through Kim West’s Gentle Sleep Coach® Program, using methods rooted in sleep science, child development, and attachment theory. Every plan I create is individualized, evidence-based, and built around your family’s values, schedules and comfort level.

If you’re considering a “coach” who uses AI, ask:

  • Are they certified in pediatric sleep?

  • Do they offer live, human support?

  • Can they adjust when your child’s needs change?

  • Do they understand developmental stages and behavioral patterns?

If those answers aren’t clear, that’s a red flag.

Where AI Can Help (With Oversight)

AI isn’t the enemy, it’s just not the expert.

Used responsibly, it can support the coaching process by helping parents:

  • Track sleep logs or notice patterns

  • Organize notes or reminders

  • Reflect on progress between sessions

But AI should never replace the trained human behind the plan. Think of it like a helpful assistant—not the driver.

The Gentle Truth

Technology is powerful, but your child’s sleep journey deserves more than a one-click plan. Real progress happens when parents are supported with compassion, consistency, and context.

AI can assist, but it can’t connect.

It can process data, but it can’t notice the sparkle, or the struggle, in your child’s eyes.

So before downloading another “AI sleep coach,” remember this: lasting sleep success comes from human understanding, not automation.

Your baby’s sleep is too important to leave to a bot.

Good Cop/Bad Cop Myth: Why Taking the Lead Strengthens Your Bond With Your Child

The Good Cop/Bad Cop Myth: Why Taking the Lead Strengthens Your Bond With Your Child

Parents often fall into the belief that one of them has to be the “good cop” and the other the “bad cop.” One parent gives extra comfort while the other steps in to create structure. The fear is that the parent who sets limits around things like sleep will be seen as the “bad cop.”

But here’s the reality: when you gently guide your child through routines with warmth, consistency, and responsiveness, you’re not creating distance—you’re actually building trust and connection.

Sleep coaching is one of the best examples of how consistency and routines works to create MORE CONNECTION.

Why Parents Worry About Being the “Bad Cop”

I hear this often: “If I’m the one taking the lead in sleep coaching, will my child resent me? Will they only see me as the parent who doesn’t comfort them?”

This worry comes from love. But attachment science and behavioral research are clear: children form strong bonds with parents who guide them consistently and sensitively.

Your child doesn’t see you as the “bad cop.” They see you as the parent who helps them feel safe enough to learn something new.

The Science of Structure and Attachment

Children thrive when their environment is predictable. Sleep science shows that when routines are consistent, a child’s brain begins to anticipate what comes next. This predictability lowers stress, strengthens self-regulation, and promotes healthy development.

From an attachment perspective, guiding your child through new skills—like independent sleep—teaches them:

  • “I feel safe because I know what to expect.”

  • “I can trust my parent to meet my needs with patience and consistency."

This isn’t about being “strict.” It’s about providing a loving, reliable framework your child can depend on.

What Parents Discover Through Sleep Coaching

Parents who lead their child through the sleep learning process are often surprised by what happens. Instead of feeling like the “bad cop,” they end up feeling:

  • More connected to their child

  • More attuned to their child’s needs and cues

  • More confident in their role as a guide

One dad put it beautifully:

“I think we’ve gotten closer, for sure. I’m more in tune with his needs and his wants, and that’s for sure helped with our relationship.”

This is the unexpected gift of sleep coaching—it strengthens bonds instead of straining them.

The Unexpected Benefits

When parents embrace their role as loving leaders, the ripple effects extend far beyond sleep:

  • Deeper Parent-Child Connection: Children feel secure in their parents’ consistent presence.

  • Confidence for Parents: Moms and dads learn they can support their child through change.

  • Peaceful Routines: Bedtimes and naps become calm, predictable, and stress-free

Children Who Thrive: Kids develop confidence knowing their parent can lovingly guide them through challenges.

Leading With Love

The idea of “good cop/bad cop” doesn’t really apply when we parent from a place of science and attachment. Taking the lead in sleep coaching doesn’t make you the “bad cop.” It makes you the steady, trusted guide your child can count on.

By creating consistent, loving routines, you’re not only helping your child sleep—you’re strengthening your bond in powerful, lasting ways.

Ready to See These Benefits in Your Family?

Sleep coaching isn’t about control or discipline. It’s about creating the right environment and circumstance, using proven sleep science and attachment theory, and responding with sensitivity so your child can learn the essential skill of sleep. And in the process, your relationship grows stronger than ever.

How Reflux, Low Ferritin, and Expert Support Transformed Monica’s Toddler’s Nights

When “Just a Phase” Isn’t the Full Story

When Monica reached out to me, her daughter had never slept independently. Naps were a battle, and nighttime meant hour after hour of being held just to keep her asleep. Monica and her husband were surviving on shifts, barely functioning.

“We didn’t even know where to start. We were beyond exhausted—there was no bandwidth left to figure it out.”

They weren’t dealing with “just a bad sleeper.” Something more was going on and thanks to my experience working with complex sleep challenges, we were able to uncover what others had missed.

Experience Matters: Seeing What Others Might Overlook

At Blissful Baby Sleep Coaching, I take a holistic, medically-informed approach to sleep. During Monica’s intake, I recognized signs that pointed to more than sleep habits. I encouraged her to explore possible underlying issues with her pediatrician like reflux, tongue tie, and later, low ferritin, a key iron storage marker.

“Our pediatrician told us, ‘some babies just cry.’ But Joanna noticed patterns no one else had. She helped us ask the right questions and get referrals to the right professionals. Joanna helped us uncover what was really going on. We wouldn’t be here without her

Sleep issues aren’t always about habits.

With over a decade of experience, I’ve supported families through challenges like reflux, feeding concerns, oral ties, and low ferritin levels. While I don’t diagnose, I know what to look for—and when to suggest a family talk with their providers.

If you’re doing everything “right” and still not seeing progress, you may not need to try harder you may just need the right kind of help.

From Medical Clarity to Gentle Coaching

Once her daughter’s reflux and tongue tie were addressed, we discovered her ferritin level was just 25, well below the 50+ threshold required for stable sleep cycles. Monica began iron supplementation  (under the supervision of her pediatrician), and with patience her ferritin levels began to raise and so then we could actually start sleep training.

“Joanna even helped us find the only iron supplement she would actually take.”

With medical needs managed, we moved forward with a gentle, six-week sleep coaching plan. I guided Monica through daily check-ins, real-time adjustments, and options tailored to her child’s progress and the family’s emotional readiness.

“Nothing was cookie-cutter. It was built around how she was doing and how we were doing.”

Life After Sleep Coaching: Freedom, Rest, and Joy

Today, Monica’s daughter sleeps 10.5 to 11 hours a night and naps independently during the day. Monica can move freely around her home. She and her husband are reconnecting. They’re going to brunch, visiting parks, enjoying their community and their child.

“We’re not just getting sleep. We’re getting ourselves back.”

For Families Who Feel Hopeless: You Can Get Help

If you’re deep in sleep deprivation and something just doesn’t feel right—trust that instinct. You deserve support from someone who can help you look deeper.

At What Age Should I Start Sleep Coaching?

If you're a parent wondering when is the best time to start sleep coaching, you’re not alone. Parents often ask, “At what age should I start sleep coaching my baby?”

There is an ideal time to formally start sleep coaching to ensure the process is most effective for your child’s developmental stage (and it is never “too late” to help your child learn sleep skills)

The Ideal Age for Sleep Coaching

Research and experience suggest that the optimal time to begin sleep coaching is when your baby is around 6 months old or when they are able to roll in both directions and they have passed their 4-5 month sleep regression.

Here’s why this stage is so important:

  1. Developmental Readiness
Around the 6-month mark, babies gain more mobility, such as rolling over, and begin to demonstrate clearer sleep cues. At this age, they are also better equipped to learn how to self-soothe and manage longer sleep cycles. Their bodies are more capable of producing the necessary hormones for longer stretches of sleep, making this the perfect window to teach healthy sleep skills.

  2. Better Sleep Hormone Regulation
By 6 months, babies have better hormone regulation, particularly with melatonin and cortisol, which are key in developing circadian rhythms and longer sleep cycles. This makes it a more favorable time for introducing formal sleep coaching without disrupting their natural sleep-wake patterns.

  3. More Established Feeding Patterns
By this stage, many babies are beginning to settle into more predictable feeding routines, making it easier to establish a balanced day and night sleep schedule. Sleep and feeding often go hand-in-hand, and having more predictable patterns can make sleep coaching more successful.

What About Newborns?

For babies under 6 months of age (0-5 months), the focus is less on formal sleep coaching and more on Newborn Education and gentle sleep shaping. During the newborn phase, it’s important to create a strong foundation for sleep without overwhelming your baby—or yourself—with strict sleep training.

Gentle sleep shaping involves creating an environment that supports better sleep, such as establishing a bedtime routine, recognizing early sleep cues. This phase is all about helping your baby develop positive associations with sleep, but without the pressure of structured sleep training. I work with many families in this phase to set the stage for smoother sleep transitions once their baby is ready for formal coaching.

Can Older Children Benefit from Sleep Coaching?

Absolutely! While the 6-month mark is an ideal starting point, sleep coaching can be highly effective for children up to 6 years old. In fact, some children may experience sleep challenges that persist into toddlerhood or preschool, and it’s never too late to help them develop healthy sleep habits.

Why Age Matters for Sleep Coaching

It’s important to note that each age brings its own set of developmental milestones, which is why my approach to Gentle Sleep Coaching® is highly personalized. Here’s how age influences the sleep coaching process:

  • 0-5 Months (Newborn Phase): Focus on gentle sleep shaping and creating healthy sleep habits (Newborn Education)

  • 6-12 Months: Babies at this age are developmentally ready to learn sleep skills through more structured sleep coaching.

  • 1-3 Years (Toddler Phase): Toddlers may require extra guidance around bedtime resistance or separation anxiety. We introduce techniques that respect their growing independence while still providing boundaries.

  • 3-6 Years (Preschool Phase): For older children, sleep challenges might involve transitioning to a big-kid bed or managing fears at night. Gentle Sleep Coaching® can help them feel secure while teaching them to fall asleep independently.

It’s Never Too Late to Start

No matter when you start, sleep is a learned skill, and it’s never too late to teach your child healthy habits. Every child deserves the gift of good sleep, and so do you! Whether your child is a newborn, a toddler, or even school-aged, I’m here to guide you through the process with a personalized, gentle approach that supports both you and your child.

If you’re ready to help your child sleep better, I encourage you to schedule a Sleep Strategy Session to discuss your child’s unique sleep needs and determine the best path forward.

Restful nights and peaceful days are just around the corner—let’s get started!

From Exhausted to Empowered: How Sleep Coaching Transformed This Working Family’s Life

If you're a working parent running on fumes, you're not alone. Jake and Olivia, like so many families, were caught in the exhausting cycle of sleepless nights with their 17-month-old son.

With only four broken hours of rest each night, both parents were overwhelmed, sleep-deprived, and desperate for change.

That’s when they found me and everything started to shift.

The Breaking Point: Sleep Deprivation and Burnout

Before reaching out for support, Jake and Olivia were tag-teaming throughout the night, trying everything they could to soothe their son. Nothing worked. The toll it took on their relationship, their health, and their ability to function at work was becoming unbearable.

“We were getting maybe four hours of broken sleep a night. It was just causing chaos in our lives and something had to change”.

As a dual-income family with a full schedule and high demands, they needed more than a quick fix. They needed a personalized, sustainable sleep solution and that’s exactly what we created together.

A Personalized Sleep Coaching Journey

Every child is unique, and their son was no exception. Sensitive and particular, he needed a specific set of conditions to learn the skill of independent sleep. One-size-fits-all approaches weren’t going to cut it.

Through gentle, responsive, and hands-on coaching, we developed a plan tailored specifically to his temperament and the family's lifestyle. Jake courageously led the process at home, and his commitment made all the difference.

“Getting the one-on-one help was a really important part in our case for sure… and just being able to adapt to his changing needs every day, that was the key.”

Sleep Success: A Hands-Free Bedtime Routine

Today, bedtime in their home looks radically different. At 7:30 PM, they read a book, put their son in his crib, and walk away. No rocking, no bouncing, no middle-of-the-night wakeups. He sleeps through the night—9 to 10 hours straight.

“We literally put him into bed at around 7:30 and he just falls asleep on its own and it’s hands free and it’s so easy.,”

Weekends are now beautifully structured, with reliable naps from 12–2 PM giving Jake and Olivia precious time to relax, run errands, or simply enjoy quiet moments.

A Stronger Father-Son Bond

One of the most beautiful, unexpected results of the sleep coaching journey was the deepened bond between Jake and his son. Rather than being the “tough parent” or disciplinarian, Jake found himself more connected and attuned to his little one’s needs than ever before.

“I feel closer to him now. I’m more in tune with his needs and his wants. That’s definitely been a huge plus,” Jake reflected.

And for Olivia? She gets a break and a partner who’s confident and capable at bedtime.

The Ripple Effect of Rested Parents

When babies sleep, families thrive. With their evenings restored, Jake and Olivia can now:

  • Reconnect as a couple

  • Catch up on chores, calls, and errands

  • Plan date nights and confidently leave their son with family

  • Show up as present, patient parents—even on Mondays

For Working Parents Wondering If Sleep Coaching Is Worth It...

Let Jake’s words be your encouragement:

“Don’t be afraid of it. And don’t assume that you can’t be helped. We were there too and now everything is different.”
