WO3 I Support Her: Kathryn Tipton and Christen Sistrunk from the Houston Center for Valued Living

Happy WO3 Day!

In honor of WO3 2024, I am delighted to partner, promote, and support  Kathryn Tipton and Christen Sistrunk, Therapists from the Houston Center for Valued Living, I am delighted to spotlight their incredible work

March is not only Women's History Month but also a time to embrace the spirit of empowerment through WO3 Day, scheduled for March 30, 2024. WO3, a grassroots movement close to my heart, champions woman-owned businesses by fostering partnerships, promoting them, and offering unwavering support throughout March.

As a proud member of the Executive Board, I am passionate about celebrating and amplifying the remarkable contributions of women entrepreneurs. Our vision is for WO3 to grow into a movement as impactful as "Small Business Saturday," where supporting a small women-led business becomes second nature—a simple act of leaving a review, sharing a blog post, or sending referrals. It's intentional, it's impactful, and it requires no financial commitment.

For my part in this movement, I aim to spotlight incredible women-led businesses that extend their support to mothers and families. It's time to illuminate small, women-owned enterprises making a profound impact, all while infusing their work with tremendous heart!

I invite each and every one of you to join the WO3 2024 movement. There are numerous ways to show your support that seamlessly align with your lifestyle and budget. No money is required to become a partner, promoter, and supporter of your favorite women-owned business.

I recently interviewed two remarkable therapists, Kathryn and Christen, from the Houston Center for Valued Living whose boutique psychotherapy and counseling agency offers a sanctuary for healing, guided by compassion and expertise. Kathryn specializes in perinatal mental health, supporting moms through infertility, pregnancy, and postpartum mood disorders. Christen focuses on anxiety disorders, including OCD, offering help to individuals and families.

In this interview we discussed:

  • The challenges faced by mothers with postpartum mood disorders and families dealing with anxiety, emphasizing the importance of support and reliable information.

  • Their practice's unique programs, such as intensive concierge services, support groups for postpartum moms and OCD sufferers, and specialized training for parents of anxious children.

  • Insights on anxiety, its spectrum of manifestations, and its impact on individuals and families.

  • Resources like Postpartum Support International and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America for those seeking help

  • Anxiety- what’s normal and what’s not normal

  • Trauma- difficult birth pregnancy, or loss, “when is the next bad thing going to happen”

This interview shed light on the invaluable work these therapists do, providing essential mental health support for families.

If you are struggling, reach out to someone. There are many passionate providers willing and able to help. With treatment it gets better, this is not something you have to deal with for the rest of your life.

In our Interview, they gave a SHOUT OUT to some other Female Owned Businesses that they admire and you will definitely want to check out!
