Neurodiversity: A Must-Listen Podcast for Parents
It’s time to shine a light on the diverse ways children experience and interact with the world around them. As we recognized both ADHD Awareness Month and Sensory Processing Awareness Month back in October, it's a perfect opportunity to explore resources that support neurodivergent children and their families.
As a gentle sleep coach and advocate for children's well-being, I'm always on the lookout for valuable resources that can support families on their unique journeys. Recently, I stumbled upon a fantastic podcast that I believe will resonate with many of you, especially those navigating the world of learning disabilities and neurodiversity. It's called the Tilt Parenting Podcast, and it's an absolute gem!
Hosted by Debbie Reber, a parent, author, and advocate, the Tilt Parenting Podcast dives deep into the challenges and triumphs of raising differently wired children.
The podcast offers insightful conversations with experts, parents, and kids themselves, covering a wide range of topics from ADHD and autism to twice-exceptional (2e) learners and beyond.
What I love most about this podcast is its empowering message that celebrates differences and provides practical advice for nurturing our children's unique strengths.
In the episode”Angela Pruess on Helping Our Children Become Better at Self-Regulation dives deep into what it is, why it’s an important skill for our kids to develop, the different ways we as parents and caregivers and teachers can support our kids in nurturing these skills.
This resonates deeply with my approach to gentle sleep coaching, where I also emphasize the importance of self-regulation. I work with families to develop sleep routines that empower children to self-regulate, self-settle and self-soothe and using these skills to establish healthy sleep habits.
These skills are not only crucial for good sleep but are also lifelong tools that help children navigate challenges and maintain emotional balance. This episode beautifully highlights the interconnectedness of self-regulation across different areas of a child's life, reinforcing the value of nurturing these skills from an early age.
For those of you who are parents of neurodivergent children or simply curious about learning more, I highly recommend checking out ALL THE RESOURCES, MINI-COURSES AND KNOWLEDGE ON THE WEBSITE TILT PARENTING
It's a wonderful resource that offers a blend of expert guidance and real-life stories, all aimed at helping families thrive. Listening to this podcast is like having a supportive friend who gets it, and it’s filled with practical tips that you can apply right away.
So, grab a cup of tea, find a cozy spot, and tune in to the Tilt Parenting Podcast. It's a great way to gain new insights and feel connected to a community of parents who are navigating similar paths.
Remember, every child's journey is unique, and with the right support and understanding, we can help our kids shine in their own special ways.
