AI Is Changing How We Work. But This Part Is Still Very Human.

AI Is Changing How We Work. But This Part Is Still Very Human.

If you've been part of the Blissful Baby Sleep Coaching community for a while, you may remember my friend Lisa Duerre, CEO and Co-Founder of RLD Group.

I first introduced many of you to Lisa through my WO3 series, when I had the opportunity to spotlight her work around leadership, workplace culture, burnout prevention, and creating workplaces where people can actually thrive.

Well... Lisa has been doing some pretty fascinating work since then.

And because so many of the parents in this community are also professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs, business owners, and people trying to figure out this rapidly changing world of work, I wanted to share it with you.

Let's Talk About AI

Whether you LOVE AI, are slightly terrified by it, use it every day, or still aren't quite sure what to do with it, one thing is becoming pretty clear:

AI is changing the way we work.

But Lisa and her colleagues at RLD Group are asking a question I think is even more interesting:

What happens to the HUMAN side of work as AI becomes more powerful?

Because AI can give us information.

It can analyze.

It can organize.

It can generate.

It can help us work faster.

But it can't automatically make a group of people communicate well.

It can't magically get everyone on the same page.

And it certainly can't fix a workplace where people aren't asking questions, sharing information, challenging assumptions, or talking to each other.

In fact, one of the ideas behind Lisa and RLD Group’'s work really caught my attention:

AI doesn't create alignment. It amplifies what's already there.

That's worth thinking about.

Faster Isn't Always Better

If a team is communicating, collaborating and making thoughtful decisions, AI can help accelerate that.

But if everyone is running in different directions?

If departments aren't talking to one another?

If nobody knows who is responsible for a decision?

If people are so overwhelmed that they're simply trying to get through their day?

AI doesn't necessarily solve the problem.

It may just help us do the wrong things faster.

And THAT is where Lisa's work comes in.

A Practical Resource I Wanted to Share With You

Lisa and her co-authors RLD Group colleagues have created a new resource called:

CONVERSATIONS WORTH HAVING®: The Human Accelerator for Artificial Intelligence QuickStart Guide

The guide offers four practical conversation practices designed to help leaders and teams communicate better, surface assumptions, collaborate across departments, clarify priorities and make better decisions as they incorporate AI into their work.

And here's what I particularly like:

You do not need to be an AI expert to use it.

And this part caught my attention too: RLD Group also offers an AI Leadership Alignment Lab for teams that do not want to figure out how to put the guide into practice alone.

The workshop brings the people responsible for an active AI or business priority together to strengthen communication, work through different perspectives, clarify decisions and ownership, and identify practical next steps.

Teams can use the guide on their own or bring Lisa and RLD Group in to help apply it to work already underway.

This isn't a technical manual.

It's about the human side of AI.

It's about conversations.

Curiosity.

Judgment.

Communication.

Collaboration.

And making sure the humans involved understand what they're actually trying to accomplish before asking technology to help them accomplish it.

Why Am I Sharing This on a Sleep Coaching Blog?

Fair question.

Because I've never believed that supporting families happens in a vacuum.

The parents I work with are raising children AND leading teams.

Building businesses.

Managing careers.

Making decisions.

Caring for other people.

Trying to create lives that actually work.

And many of you are now trying to figure out where AI fits into those lives and careers.

So when someone I know and respect creates a thoughtful resource that might make your professional life a little easier, or help you lead a conversation differently ,I want you to know about it.

That's also part of why I've always loved the spirit behind WO3: women supporting, promoting and amplifying the work of other women.

So consider this another little ripple of that mission.

The Human Skills May Matter More Than Ever

There's another reason Lisa and RLD Group’'s work resonated with me.

In my own work with families, I see over and over that having information isn't always the same as knowing what to do with it.

You can Google a child's sleep schedule.

You can read 14 blogs.

You can ask AI what time your baby should nap.

But eventually, someone still has to look at the whole picture, ask good questions, notice what's actually happening, make a thoughtful decision, communicate clearly and adjust when necessary.

Workplaces aren't all that different.

As AI gets better at giving us answers, I suspect our ability to ask better questions is going to become even more important.

Curiosity.

Critical thinking.

Listening.

Judgment.

Communication.

Connection.

Those aren't outdated skills in an AI world.

They may become our superpowers.
